The Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from the postseason after a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

Don't Know Why This Had To Happen": Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Sends Heartfelt Message To Fans After ACL Tear - Gridiron Heroics

To make things worse, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and underwent surgery in hopes of returning for the start of the 2026 season.

In Mahomes’ absence, veteran Gardner Minshew got the start. But Minshew suffered a torn ACL and left the game in the second quarter.

Minshew went just 3-of-8 for 15 yards before leaving the game.

After the injury, it was Chris Oladokun, a 2022 seventh-round pick from South Dakota State. He was drafted in 2022 by the Pittsburgh Steelers but has been with the Chiefs since 2022.

Chris Oladokun has learned a lot from the best in his four seasons with the Chiefs, and he's going to need to draw on it all these next two weeks.

Oladokun had spent time back and forth from the Chiefs’ practice squad and active roster over the past few years.

After the game, Oladokun revealed that Mahomes had reached out to him.

“Chris Oladokun said he checked his phone after the game, and the first text he saw was from Patrick Mahomes.”

Oladokun spoke highly of Mahomes after the game, saying, “That’s the type of guy he is.”

It was the first regular-season pass attempt for Oladokun, and he finished 11-of-16 for 111 yards without a score.

Despite Mahomes being away from the team as he recovers from surgery, he is still doing his part to be there for his teammates.

The Chiefs have two games left this season against the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, and there is a chance Oladokun will start the final two games to showcase the talent he has.
